The Diplomat tells the true story of J.P. Singh, an Indian diplomat in Pakistan, whose life changes when a woman named Uzma Ahmed comes to the Indian Embassy in distress. She claims to be an Indian woman who was kidnapped, forced into marriage, and abused.


Singh, initially unsure if Uzma is a spy or telling the truth, works hard to help her. The movie shows how Singh struggles between his duty as a diplomat and his belief in helping Uzma escape, ultimately working to get her to safety into India.
